In The Day of the Jackal (1973), The Jackal also drives a white Alfa Romeo, albeit an earlier generation model. This would have been an excellent cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead had been played by someone else, literally anyone else. The way she plays the detective makes the viewer, at least this one, reluctant to root for her.
She seems like a cunning, cold, know-it-all, selfish woman
Yes, she’s a cop, and what she does is right, but how she does it is terrible! I don’t like her and I don’t care about her. Because of this, I feel like a lot of us who watch the show have rooted for the Jackal.
And I know I’m not the only one
She’s everything she’s not, even though she’s a killer. I don’t want her to succeed in her mission, and I don’t want the Jackal to get caught. I don’t think it should be that way, but that’s how I feel.
And that’s a shame, because she’s amazing in this!
By the looks of it, she’s getting close to him. Unfortunately, if she succeeds, it’s going to make me want to stop watching this show.
